Raja's Indian Cuisine, Miami |
Vegetable Oil Used, Not Ghee
Raja's is a a budget Indian restaurant with a reasonable selection of vegetarian dishes, in fact vegan, as vegetable oil is used rather than clarified butter, or ghee.
If you're vegan say so, because Raja and his wife Chithrakala will understand what you mean. Dairy products are only used in some meat dishes, or paneer dishes which have cheese, and in desserts.
Vegan Dishes
Don't expect a huge choice, but the food is far better than in some much more expensive Indian restaurants in Miami, with plenty of spices, and includes the following vegan dishes:
- Papadums
- Vegetable samosas
- Onion pakoras
- Mixed vegetables
- Aloo gobi (potato and cauliflower)
- Chana masala (chickpeas)
- Curried cabbage
- Dosas (with a choice of fillings – Raja's house speciality)
- Roti (flat whole-wheat bread)
- Nan (flat bread made from white flour)
- Puri (fried flat whole-wheat bread)
In addition there is a vegetarian meal consisting of rice and your choice of any three vegetables.
Fruit juice is available, but make sure you ask for pure juice, or you might be given a sugary fruit drink.
Fast-food Restaurant Decor
The decor is what you'd find in a fast-food restaurant, but this is a place where you can eat a filling meal for under $10. I wish they'd get rid of the disposable plates and cutlery, but this is my only quibble.
Indian Foodstuffs for Sale
A few basic Indian foodstuffs are on sale.
Convenient for Bayside Marketplace
If you're visiting Bayside Marketplace and marina, and you don't fancy what's on offer in the food court, or you'd like some healthy food, Raja's is only a ten-minute walk away. Leaving Bayside, turn left, in the opposite direction to Freedom Tower, then right onto Flagler Street and right again onto Northeast 2nd Avenue.
Should you be approaching from elsewhere in Downtown, look for Northeast 2nd Avenue. Leading off Flagler Street, you'll find NE, NW, SE and SW 2nd Avenues all within a few blocks.

Raja's Hidden Away in a Corner
Even though Raja's is just a minute from Flagler Street, it's tucked away in a corner, and not visible till you're right next to it. Raja's opens at 11 am, but like most Downtown restaurants it closes early, at 6 pm, or 4 pm at weekends.
I'm amazed, I have to say. Really hardly at any time do I experience a site that's the two educative and entertaining, and allow me tell you, you might have strike the nail on the head. Your concept is fantastic the issue is anything that not ample men and women are speaking intelligently about. I am very joyful that I stumbled across this in my find for anything referring to this.
